Changing a nappy, how to do it?

With a first child, most young parents don’t know how to change a nappy. That’s not a problem at all! We will show you step by step how to do it.

The key is good preparation

If you are well prepared, you shouldn’t use your hands for useless things during nappy changes. This way you can focus on your baby.

Start by getting a wipe ready and open the package. Believe us, the moment has to come fast, so you have to be ready. Having a nappy pail handy is also very handy. You can also have a clean nappy, clean clothes and baby balm ready. Only now will you be properly prepared!

Step 1: Remove the nappy

Your baby wants nothing more than for you to remove that dirty nappy. So start by undoing the nappy. Then clean the front with a cloth. Be careful! Never rub from back to front, but the other way round. Then turn your baby to the left or right and clean their bottom. Finally, put the dirty nappy in the nappy bin.

Step 2: Time for a new nappy

It is finally time for the new nappy. If you have done the preparation properly, you can just take it (because the nappy is already ready). Once you have placed the nappy under your child, you can gently fold both the adhesive strips inwards. Stick them on firmly so they do not come loose. After all, we don’t want a loose nappy!

Step 3: Double check the nappy

Can you stick a finger between the tummy and the nappy? Then you’ve done a good job. If not, you’ll have to loosen the adhesive strips a little. Also remember that the edges of the legs must point outwards.

Good luck! You can now do this about 6 to 10 times a day. But luckily it will become less and less until the child is potty trained.
